SpiderOak: Nett aber aktuell noch unbrauchbar für mobile Szenarien
Ich wollte meine Dropbox Nutzung auf SpiderOak verlagern. Gründe hierfür sind eigentlich nur Sicherheitsaspekte. SpiderOak wirbt mit einer “Zero-Knowledge” Policy und gibt an auch mobile Geräte zu unterstützen.
Leider stimmen diese beiden Aussagen nicht in Kombination mit einander sondern nur für den Einsatz der Desktop Clients und nicht für die mobilen Anwendungen.
- Zero-Knowledge gibt es nicht für die mobilen Apps

For complete “Zero-Knowledge,” only access your account from your main devices. As mobile devices become more capable we are working on implementing a full “Zero-Knowledge” mobile client.
Hmm. Ok damit könnte ich vielleicht noch leben. Aber mit dieser Einschränkung ist SpiderOak nicht mehr sicherer als Dropbox.
Aber das KO Kriterium für mich ist dann
- Kein Editieren oder Upload von mobilen Geräten
Mobile devices are currently read-only, meaning you can not upload or edit data from your phone or tablet. Mobile devices cannot be added as individual devices on your account. We are working on developing secure mobile backup, but we have no ETA at this time.
Na das ist aber ein recht umfangreiche Einschränkung und die Informationen dazu sind recht versteckt.
Wenn 2. geht schaue ich mir das wieder an.
